Griffons

Part of life's poetry is the sharing of love. It is easy to see this darling breed has a poet's spirit. Brussels Griffons inspire love. They are a small dog with the regal stature of a lion and a heart of platinum.

Brussels Griffons are sensitive, affectionate dogs. The rough coated ones such as my guy, look like a live teddy bear. Hmm, a griffy-bear? They need time, caring, and loving homes.

What profession would my dog have? A wise and kind King or maybe a psychologist/family counsellor. He's always showing how sharing and loving a being can be. He's fair in the sharing of his attention and affection, going from one of us to the other to shower us with his love. On the other hand, he might prefer being a Chef since one of his favourite times is mealtime!

TYPES

Griffons come in two coat types, rough and smooth. There are four colours: red, black, black and tan, and belge (which is black and reddish brown mixed, usually with black mask and whiskers). These pictures are of my rough coated fellow.

There are three categories in Europe:

1. Griffon Bruxellois (Brussels Griffon) is the red rough

2. Griffon Belge (Belgian Griffon) is a rough in black, black and tan rough, or black and reddish-brown.

3. Petit Brabancon is the smooth coat. (pictured here)

In the U.S. and the U.K. all three are shown as Brussels Griffons.
